Dr Fitness also shared his idea about opening up golf courses to runners at night when people were through playing golf. What do you think about that?
Our guest today was Katy Widrick, Executive Producer of Growing Bolder TV and Growing Bolder Radio. Her show spotlights ordinary people who are 50 years old and up pursuing extraordinary lives. In addition, Katy blogs about fitting health and fitness into a hectic lifestyle, and is the founder of the weekly #Fitblog Chats on Twitter.
Katy talked about Siphiwe Baleka, a one-of-a-kind Yale graduating, globetrotting, God-fearing, truck-driving, fast-swimming family man. And he’s got a new mission — to help long-haul truckers everywhere improve their health, fitness and quality of life.
Katy also shared a story about Karen Putz, who lost her hearing while barefoot water skiing as a teen. She had to learn a whole new way of living. Against everyone’s advice, she went to college, and eventually she married and had children. More than 25 years passed, but her desire to get back on her feet kept burning within. Then one day, she saw a news report on Judy Myers, a 68-year-old competitive barefoot water skier (and the oldest woman competing in the sport). She had the inspiration she needed to get back into the water.
Some of their contributors include: Rowdy Gaines (3 time Olympic champion), Dr. Dot Richardson (Olympic softball captain), Pat Williams (NBA Executive) and more, all of whom talk about the importance of staying healthy and fit.
Pat Williams recently found out his cancer is in remission.
Since the last time we spoke to Katy Season 3 is airing across the 92% of the country and their radio show is nationally syndicated on NPR affiliates.
